Miyuki Awards Ceremony 2025
The 43rd Miyuki Awards Ceremony brought together the mohair community for an evening dedicated to honouring the farmers whose expertise continues to set the global benchmark for mohair.
Hosted annually by Miyuki Keori in partnership with Mohair South Africa, this prestigious competition has, for over four decades, recognised the top mohair clips of the year - celebrating excellence across kid, young goat, and adult mohair.
The judges based their decisions on the following criteria
Style & Character
Coefficient of variation of length
Coefficient of variation of micron
Freedom from seed & stain
Freedom from kemp
General appearance and handling
Clip preparation
This year also marks the 120th anniversary of Miyuki Keori, the revered Japanese textile house known for its mastery in crafting luxury mohair and wool fabrics.
Speaking at the ceremony in Gqeberha, Chris Hobson, Chairman of MohairSouth Africa, remarked: “Tonight is about more than awards. It’s about celebrating excellence, reflecting on the journey that brought us here, and acknowledging the individuals who continue to elevate this industry.

The next award ceremony is the Daidoh Awards. The Daidoh competition awards the top five farmers who receive the highest average price for their summer kid mohair clip. The Daidoh Mohair Trophy has been ongoing for more than thirty years and aims to celebrate, inspire, and reward mohair farmers for producing top-quality summer kid mohair.
The Daidoh trophy and prizes are presented at a special prize ceremony attended by the entire local mohair industry, including the farmers, brokers, buyers, and spinners. This year, the prize ceremony will take place on 12 November in Graaff-Reinet.
